Yours or Mine

Alice Sheppard Fidler

Yours or Mine is a playful interpretation of everyday objects by artist Alice Sheppard Fidler.

The overlapping chairs form a Venn diagram, a zone of ordered entanglement where bodies and legs become merged. The minimal arrangement, stripped back to frames, could be viewed as a drawing delineating opposing forces, indicating the push and pull between desire and tension.

Alice works across sculpture, installation, performance and drawing. Chairs are a recurring motif in Alice’s sculptural work, a universal form that operates both as a placeholder for absent figures and as an invitation to the viewer to imagine themselves in the narrative. Alice works with known objects that she re-contextualises, repurposing their function to highlight the uncanny.

Yours or Mine is a limited edition artwork. Each edition is made by hand and will have its own unique variations. it is available in a selected range of colours: Ultramarine Blue, Acid Yellow, and Flourescent Orange.

A grey base plate that is fixed under earth is supplied with the piece and provides structure and stability to hold the artwork in position.
