Reflections Oak Bench

This spacious three-seater bench is made entirely from oak and was designed to imitate reflections in water. The curves of the cleft oak mirror each other and the seat in the middle creates an imaginary water level. Jack has charred some of the oak to create a striking contrast to the parts left in their natural condition.

The oak, from Westonbirt Arboretum where maker Jack Ritson works as a forester, is riven by hand from a carefully selected log with slightly curved grain. This gives the seat its beautiful and naturally sweeping shape. Due to the nature of the joints, which use traditional small oak wedges to fix the legs, this bench is best suited to being brought inside or placed under cover during the winter months. We recommend oiling this seat with Osmo UV Protection oil, and to scrub it with water if algae builds up.
