Being Together

Being Together is a playful sculpture that speaks to the balancing act of being with one another, whilst attempting to retain ones own sense of self.

Using the forms of two chairs but removing some of their structure, artist Alice Shepperd Fidlar uses‘Being together’ to suggest the imbalance between familiar support and individual vulnerability.

Alice works across sculpture, installation, performance and drawing. Chairs are a recurring motif in Alice’s sculptural work, a universal form that operates both as a placeholder for absent figures and as an invitation to the viewer to imagine themselves in the narrative. Alice works with known objects that she re-contextualises, repurposing their function to highlight the uncanny.

Being together is a limited edition artwork. Each edition is made by hand and will have its own unique variations. The work is available in a selected range of colours: Ultramarine Blue, Acid yellow and Flourescent Orange.
